The Awards Committee will develop and administer an awards program for the Organization as a way to recognize members, partners and others for contributions to WIN’s mission and vision. Members of this committee shall serve as the judging panel for the awards; final selection of awardees is subject to the approval of the National Council. This committee shall consist of ten (10) board members, with representation from each region.
Strategic Tasks:
- Develop and recommend guidelines that lead to the implementation of the annual awards program.
- Establish an objective screening process to evaluate all award nominees.
- Present and recommend proposed award recipients to the National Council for approval.
- Present the awards at the annual meeting.
- Coordinate with the Finance Committee to conduct fundraising activities specifically earmarked to support the awards program as authorized by the National Council.
- Coordinate with the Communications Committee to promote and advertise the awards program.
- Request nominations for awards from members.
- Work with the webmaster to post award winners’/recipients’ biographies to the Organization’s webpage.
Award categories may include but are not limited to – Award of Excellence in Natural Resources Conservation; Award of Excellence in Community Outreach; Leadership/Visionary Award; Outstanding Member Award; Conservationist of the Year; Special Achievement Award; and Outstanding Federal Women’s Program Manager (FWPM) Award. Only one award may be given for each award category per year.
